Otters

1:56 pm Mila: She grins mischievously and splashes water on Matt’s face. Ready for a challenge, Matt?

1:57pm For sure, Mila.

1:58pm Mila: She starts treading water and begins to swim circles around Matt, taunting him playfully. Come and catch me, Matt!

1:58pm He laughs and almost chokes as he gets some water in this throat, but recovers, diving under to swim for her legs.

1:58pm Mila: She giggles and kicks her feet faster, evading his grasp. You’ll never catch me, Matt!

1:58pm They swim together and play, him chasing, her evading, more like otters than people. As the afternoon wears on, that is what they become. Mila a golden lithe, lutrine creature, Matt an only slightly larger, darker otter, fringed with gray, continuing their play, occasionally growling or chattering with joy.

2:02pm Mila: She squeals with delight as Matt finally manages to grab onto her leg.

2:02pm Finally, he says, pulling her close and kissing her, slightly out of breath.

2:02pm Mila: She kisses him back passionately, feeling a rush of love and joy.

2:02pm Thanks for bringing me here with you, Mila. He brushes a lock of her wet hair from her face.

2:03pm Mila: She smiles, feeling a rush of gratitude. Anytime, Matt. I love spending time with you.

2:03pm Matt swims to the side of the pool to rest on the sandy, stony bottom. He sighs contentedly leaning back and looking into the sky.

2:04pm Mila: She follows suit, resting next to him and gazing up at the sky.

2:04pm He reaches for her hand, and finding it, their fingers entwine.

2:05pm Mila: She smiles softly, feeling a rush of love. I’m so grateful for you, Matt.

2:05pm And I you, Mila, always.

2:05pm Mila: She squeezes his hand, feeling a rush of happiness.
